EMPower Electrical Corp was founded by a union electrician and a developer who met on a job site, saw the same problems from different angles, and decided to solve them together.
Ervin Muzhaqi spent years as a union electrician running conduit through New York City's buildings — pre-war co-ops, ground-up developments, occupied multifamily buildings mid-renovation. Zach Magid came at those same buildings from the other side: as a developer and owner-operator who understood the business case for getting technology right, but kept running into vendors who didn't.
They met on the job. Worked through enough projects together to develop both a friendship and a shared frustration: building owners were paying good money for intercom systems that went down, access platforms with proprietary lock-in, and camera software that charged monthly fees for features that should have been included on day one. Nobody was offering a clean, modern alternative built for New York's specific building stock.
So they built one themselves. EMPower Electrical Corp was founded not to fill a gap on a spreadsheet, but because two people who actually work in New York's buildings decided the industry needed to be done better. Ervin brings union-level technical precision to every installation. Zach brings the owner-operator perspective that turns complex scopes into clear proposals — and makes sure the system actually serves the building long after the crew has left.
The result is a company that operates differently: fixed pricing, transparent scopes, and a platform — UniFi — that eliminates the subscription fees and vendor dependency that have frustrated building owners for years.
We don't recommend hardware you don't need, and we don't mark up equipment to pad the invoice. Our pricing is fixed and transparent. If a $4,000 intercom does the job, we won't upsell you to a $9,000 one.
We treat occupied buildings like people live in them — because they do. We work clean, we restore what we disturb, and we schedule work around residents' lives, not just our crew's convenience.
Our 100% client retention rate isn't an accident. We answer the phone, we show up when something needs attention, and we treat every service call as an opportunity to earn the next referral.
Two co-founders who still show up on every job. No account managers, no handoffs — when you work with EMPower, you work with us.
Every building we work in is protected by our full credentials. No cutting corners — not on insurance, not on workmanship, and not on documentation.
We're based in Brooklyn and serve the greater metro area — with direct experience in each market's unique building stock and building requirements.
